January 23rd, Losail International Circuit, Doha.
Alfardan Automobiles, the sole importer of BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Motorcars in Qatar recently held a BMW Driver Training event at the Losail International Circuit.
Organized for the 23rd of January, the day was divided into a morning and afternoon session.
The morning session saw selected members of the diplomatic community and prominent figures in local business coming together to sample the acclaimed performance associated with the BMW brand.
The participants were thoroughly briefed, then taken to the track to apply various advanced driving skills and manoeuvres in a fleet of vehicles provided by Alfardan Automobiles.
The line up was strong; a BMW 740 Li, an M5, an Alpina B5, a BMW 530i, the new BMW 335i Coupé, a MINI Cooper S and a BMW 118i.
The pinnacle of the event saw a Rolls-Royce EWB Phantom brought onto the track. Sensational luxury and comfort aside, participants were able to sample the rarely tried and tested, cultured ferocity of the 720Nm, 453bhp V12 power-plant.
The afternoon session was designed specifically to cater for a selection of professional golfers in Doha for the 2007 Commercialbank Qatar Masters. The event gave the likes of Paul Casey, Henrik Stenson, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Stuart Appleby the chance to swap their clubs for a different kind of driving practice.
Specialist BMW driving instructors flown out from Germany by Alfardan Automobiles to support the event ensured that all manoeuvres were carried out in absolute safety whilst guaranteeing the golfers, diplomats and businessmen, a chance to put some of the finest automotive technologies to the ultimate test.
The event was seen as a superb showcase of what BMW has on offer in all segments of the market.
